- Through Abraham, in the midst of an idolatrous generation, God was able to raise up a nation that would be His exclusive possession, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. His people here on earth would only have to diligently listen to His voice and keep His covenant, and God’s purpose would be accomplished (Exod. 19:5-6).
- Without the cross of Christ, there is no producing of the church, there is no forgiveness of sins. The old man continues to live, and there is no new creation. Thank God today we have the death and resurrection of Christ, whose work produced His church. To nullify the cross of Christ is to nullify all God’s work (1 Cor 1:17; Gal 2:21).
- The Holy Spirit has given power to the church. Firstly, this power is to produce the church and, secondly, for the church to carry out God’s work, multiply, expand, and bring life to the whole earth. From the death and resurrection of Christ, the Spirit begins to work strongly in and through the church (Acts 1:8).
- “Even the orthodox Jews, who practiced the law strictly, could not be justified by it. But all we had to do was believe in Jesus and we received forgiveness of sins and were justified by faith. What grace!” (Gal. 2:16; Eph. 2:8-9) (Daily Food, Book 1, Week 3, Tuesday, p. 45).
