DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Tuesday | Msg. 23 – God Reconfirms His Promise to Abraham After Lot’s Separation

1. Abraham went down to Egypt, which represents the world of sustenance for survival. This world is a system in which God’s enemy dominates the earth through the need for survival, entertainment, and security. What he desires, through the world, is to enslave man, usurping his time for the world and not for serving God (Gen. 12:10; John 14:30; 1 John 2:15).

2. Why did God allow Abraham, who left Ur of the Chaldees and reached the Promised Land, to experience a great famine? In fact, every person chosen by God and who desires to serve Him must undergo certain tests. The first test man must overcome is the world of sustenance. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, after forty days of fasting, He responded to the devil, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Gen. 12:10; Matt. 4:1 4).

3. Abraham became very wealthy, but he didn’t set his heart on material things. Having great wealth and possessions is also a test: you must be careful not to let money, wealth, goods, and possessions end up dominating you. At this point, we can say that Abraham was approved (Gen. 13:2; Heb. 11:8 10).

4. “People’s faith must be based on God’s pure word, not on our own cunningness. When the truth of the gospel is proclaimed in a pure way, it truly enlightens people. When we do not change God’s word, the truth of the gospel reaches people as the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Cor. 4:2-4) (Daily Food, Book 2, Week 1, Tuesday, pg. 7).
