- Are you a friend of God, like Abraham? We should not worship God or serve Him for any personal interest. Let us have a heart that only wants to surrender ourselves into the hands of the true God and let Him do whatever He wants with our lives. We are not here seeking to satisfy our ambition, self-interest, or fame (Isaiah 41:8).
- God is increasingly seeking to engage us in His purpose, because the Lord Jesus must return, and we are here to cooperate with Him and hasten the day of His coming. We can be certain that there are seekers of God who have not yet been found. How will God find these people? Through the church (John 4:23).
- God records in His word that Abraham had no children, and that Sarah was unable to bear children. This presents a major obstacle to the fulfillment of God’s promise to make Abraham a great nation and to give his descendants the land of Canaan. However, God is God. We can trust His word (Gen. 11:29-30; 12:1-3).
- “Thank the Lord, we have the Bible as our standard! What it shows us is what we follow: the word, the apostolic teaching. The Bible is the basis of the teaching on which we base ourselves. False teachers denied the person of Christ and His redemptive work (Acts 2:42; 2 Pet. 2:1)” (Daily Food, Book 7, Week 1, Wednesday, p. 12).
