DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Wednesday | Mess. 8 – The Blessing of Abraham

  1. The Almighty God appeared to Abram and changed his name to Abraham. The institution of circumcision was to show that Abraham was no longer an ordinary man. His descendants would not be part of the pagan nations, but would be a holy nation. This covenant indicates that this chosen people would not walk in the flesh, but in the presence of God (Genesis 17:5-14).
  2. What truly pleases God is for man to believe and obey His word. The same principle holds true for both dispensations: the law and the faith. In the Old Testament, the law was given so that the people would have a reference to follow, but they would still need the word of the prophets (1 Sam. 15:22; Gal. 3:15-22).
  3. God wanted to direct the people of Israel through the word that was delivered through Moses. Through the prophet’s words, the people would know how to live and act in the wilderness, how to serve the Lord and advance toward the good land of Canaan. What God intended from the beginning was that they would hear and obey His word (Ex 19:9; Acts 7:38; Dt 28:1-9).
  4. “If we do not live by faith, we will depend on earthly things, and our hope will be limited by time and space. Thank God, He gave us faith! This faith is like a land that we have received and in which we must work. Through faith, we receive salvation, the life of God, and we are born of Him. Through faith, we have access to all the riches of the spiritual realm” (2 Pet. 1:1-4) (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 2, Wednesday, p. 28).
