1. God has chosen Christ as King. God has promised to give the nations to Christ as His inheritance. He will inherit the whole world, as the Heir of all things. The promise of being an heir is in Christ. If we belong to those who are of the faith, we will inherit all things together with Christ (Ps 2:6-8; Heb 1:2; Rom 8:17).
2. God wants to take us to the good land, which is God’s rest. How important it is to hear the word diligently, to practice hearing in faith. We must hear, exercise faith, and take hold of the promise. If we hear God’s word and obey it, we will enter into rest (Heb 4:1-3).
3. How wonderful it is to work in God’s rest. When we have the presence of the Lord, we have rest. Let us work in rest. Our effort is not in our own ability, but in entering into rest. What does it mean to strive to enter into rest? It is the hearing of faith and believing in the word (Ex 33:14-15; Heb 4:9-10).
4. “Just as in the human body, the Lord provides us with His word as nutrients and the Spirit as oxygen. When we combine the word with oxygen, that is, with the Spirit, we obtain combustion, which produces the energy necessary to preach the gospel, to do immersion, and to work for the Lord” (2 Pet. 1:5; John 6:63) (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 3, Wednesday, pp. 46-47)
