1. We are slaves of sin, and we cannot accomplish the good we desire. But there is a solution: the river contains the water of life and acts as a purifying jet, cleansing our entire fallen nature and adding the divine nature, through the washing of water by the word (Rom 6:6; Eph 5:26-27).
2. Many have been led into religious captivity because they stopped listening to God’s voice. When we obey His command, He blesses us and makes us fruitful, filling us with His life and nature, for the purpose of building God’s house (John 15:5, 10).
3. By God’s life, we become His children and fulfill the mission of subjecting all things under Christ’s feet. God didn’t choose angels, but He chose you. That’s why human beings are so important to Him, and through Christ’s death on the cross, we can carry out God’s will on Earth (Eph. 1:9-10; Heb. 2:5-8).
4. “Persevering implies constancy […] the result of persevering in the word of the apostles and in fellowship is to bring us to oneness: one heart and one soul. What makes us uniform and gives us the same direction is the word, because the source of the word is One, it is God” (Acts 4:32) (Daily Food, book 5, week 1, Wednesday, page 11).
