DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Wednesday | Msg. 14 – Cain and Abel

1. God created man to, through him, subdue all things and establish His government on Earth. However, through the serpent’s deception, man fell, sin entered the world, and death began to reign. Man, created to do God’s will, became a bearer of the serpent’s seed, that is, of sin. Fallen man carries the devil’s genetic burden. Everything we do in the flesh bears Satan ‘s mark. We need to realize the gravity of this! (Gen. 2:17; 3: 1-6; Rom. 5:12, 17, 19; 7: 14, 17-18, 20-25).

2. After receiving the devil’s seed, fallen humanity began to live in slavery to sin. The only way out for humanity is the cross of Christ, the death of the old self. Through faith in Christ, we were included in His death. We must love the work of the cross of Christ, which is our redemption and liberation from the serpent’s genetic burden. We do not need to accomplish anything by our own efforts, because when we believe in the word of the kingdom, the seed of God is implanted in us. We now carry God’s genetics, His DNA. This is Satan’s defeat. We have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb (Romans 7 :24-25; 6: 6; Matthew 13:24; Revelation 12:11).

3. The story of Cain and Abel reveals fallen human nature. Cain, whose name means “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord,” assumed he was God’s promised descendant, the one who would crush the serpent’s head. Therefore, he tried to please God through his natural efforts. However, human efforts alone can never please God, for they carry the serpent’s DNA. The name “Abel” means “fleeting breath” or “vanity.” Adam and Eve realized that human life outside of God’s presence, outside of Eden, is vanity. As beautiful as it may seem, it is vanity. However, our lives have hope, for we have returned to Eden, which is the church (Gen. 3:15; 4: 1-5; Ps. 39: 4-7).

4. Cain belonged to the evil one because he carried within himself the genetic makeup of the evil one and walked in accordance with it. Even when they seemed good, his works were linked to the evil one. Cain’s path represents those who serve God in their own way, not God ‘s. The result is envy and jealousy toward those who serve God according to His principles —and they end up “killing” their brothers. To please God, it is necessary to seek His presence, listen to His word, and, through it, know His heart, desires, and will. Following the divine principle means not trusting in the flesh, recognizing oneself as a sinner, and, as such, humbling oneself to be accepted by the Lord. The best way to break the connection with the devil is repentance (Gen. 4: 5-6; Jude 10-13; John 8:44; Phil. 3: 3-9; Luke 18: 9-14).
