1. For God to make Christ head up all things, He must subdue the church, and He will do this by filling it with Christ. You and I need to be filled with Christ through the living Word of God. We must not be filled with theology or biblical knowledge alone, but with Christ Himself, who is able to pull down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, until we are filled with all the fullness of Christ (Eph. 3:17-19; 4:8-10; 2 Cor. 10:4-5).
2. We do not live by human reasoning or logic. We follow the Spirit through the living word of the Lord (John 3:8; 2 Cor 5:7).
3. The church has the same purpose and goal that Christ had on Earth. He traveled from village to village, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom. Today, He desires all His children to take on this responsibility. Do you want to be part of this mission of subjecting all things to the headship of Christ? (Matthew 9:35-38).
4. James established some ordinances for the believers who had been welcomed into the church by the Lord, which apparently were wise, balanced, and conciliatory decisions (Acts 15:19-20). But the Lord Jesus never prescribed such ordinances for the church. We do not mean to say that these things are not good, but we are no longer in the age of the Law. Now we are in the age of faith and grace. (Daily Food, book 5, week 4, Wednesday, p. 60).
