- Upon arriving in Macedonia, Paul was comforted by the coming of Titus. How important it is to have companions who knows our hearts and shares complicity with us in the Lord’s work! This organic relationship between the coworkers is fundamental. An environment of joy strengthens us. All the coworkers agree that we are living in a unique and unprecedented moment. What unites us and makes us unanimous is the word that the Lord speaks to us. I believe that all of you, brothers and sisters, are my companions and partners in the Lord’s work. Without you, the word cannot do the Lord’s work (2 Corinthians 2:12-13; 7:6, 13; 8:18; Titus 1:4).
- The agenda of a servant of the Lord does not follow human logic, but the direction of the Spirit. Through regeneration, we are born of the Spirit and walk not according to human rules but as citizens of the kingdom of heaven. Let us abandon the flesh and human logic to walk in the Spirit according to the Word. We are the church in Philadelphia, flexible to follow the Spirit, walking in newness of life and in the freedom of the Spirit. Let us not allow the old self and past experiences to inhibit the reality of the Spirit; rather, let us be infected by the life energy that is in our teenagers. We are not here to restrain or influence them with our lessons and ability, but to turn and obey the word like children, to follow the Spirit and enter the kingdom of heaven. We do not want the fire to go out! Let us keep it simple and keep the church fresh (Galatians 2:2; John 3:3-8; Rom 6:4; Matt 18:3).
- The Law is spiritual, but we are carnal, and the Law cannot bear the flesh. Its practice does not give us a way out, but grieves us. This is the despair of the religious man. Who, then, will deliver us? It is not the Law! If we live by the Law, we remain under its dominion throughout our lives. As long as we are married to the old man, we will be under his bondage. But how will the old man die? He was crucified with Christ. Therefore, we can be married to a new man: Jesus. We have already been set free and belong to the Lord when we believed in Him. It was for freedom that Christ set us free. In the Spirit, we are always in newness of life (Rom 6:6; 8:14; 7:1-4, 15-24).
- A true servant of God does not give in to pressures, in order to preserve the truth of the gospel. He cannot be diplomatic or complacent in this regard, but he must remain steadfast and faithful to the Lord who sent him, without compromising for personal advantage. Even under enormous pressure, Paul did not give in. He fought for the truth of the gospel to remain among the Gentile Christians (Acts 15:1-5).
