DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Saturday | Mess. 22 – Jesus’ Crucifixion
Through His sufferings, Jesus will see His posterity and prolong His days. Who is His posterity? It’s the church, it’s us! How will He prolong His days? We are His extension! We are prolonging Jesus’ days on earth. And God’s will, will prosper in His hands (Mk 15:25; Mt 27:45-46; Is 53:10).
Jesus purchased the church by the price of His blood. We are no longer our own. We are the Lord’s; we belong to Him. We no longer have rights over ourselves, as we were purchased with His blood (John 1:29; 19:34; Heb 9:22; Acts 20:28).
Those who were very close to the cross saw that when one of the soldiers opened Jesus’ side with a spear, blood and water came out. Those far away could only see the blood. But whoever was close also saw the water. The blood means that our sins have been forgiven and the water represents the divine life that Jesus shed when He died for us (John 18:17, 25-27; 17:17; Eph 4:17-21).
“Everyone who believes in Jesus receives eternal life and becomes a member of His body (1 Cor 12:27). The flesh of Jesus was given up for us so that not only redemption would come from it, but also the flow of divine life, eternal life” (Daily Food, Book 6, Week 4, Saturday, p. 69).
