- The cross marks a new age. The church is now able to do God’s will. It receives the outpouring of the Spirit to give it power to do God’s work. The old man is incapable of doing this work. Let us stop trusting in ourselves and start trusting only in the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Rom 6:4).
- If we truly understand that the cross of Christ came to put an end to our old man and to begin the new, we will no longer fall into the trap of seeking prominence or protagonism when serving God. It is not we who must appear, but the Spirit and the Word (Rom 6:6,8; John 5:30, 41, 44; 7:18; 8:50).
- What matters to God is a heart capable of receiving the divine seed, because the kingdom of God is generated in people’s hearts through the Word. That is why we preach the gospel: so that God can reach these hearts. He wants to establish Christ as Head over all things — and He will do this through the church (Matt. 13:3, 8; Eph. 1:9-10, 22-23).
- Titus was a companion who faithfully followed in Paul’s footsteps. They never took advantage of the churches; on the contrary, they served them with a pure heart, never making any personal demands. This is also how we practice today… Let us seek to maintain a pure spirit and a simple heart in order to serve our brothers and sisters (2 Cor 12:18) (Daily Food, book 2, week 1, Tuesday, p. 9).
