1. When God created the Garden of Eden and directed the establishment of the tabernacle in Jerusalem, He commanded that they face east. East represents the rising of the sun, and the sun represents Christ. God’s intention is that our lives be oriented toward the return of our Lord Jesus Christ (Gen. 2:8; Exod. 27:13-14; Ezek. 44:1-2).
2. The first coming of Christ, prophesied by Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, presents the Lord Jesus as the sun rising on high. At His second coming, He will rise as the Sun of Righteousness, with healing in His wings (Luke 1:78; Mal. 4:2).
3. Man must always wait for God’s guidance, supply, salvation, and fulfilment of His will, just as one waits for the dawn. That is, we must be those who wait for the Lord, with our faces always turned toward the east, expecting and hastening the coming of the Day of God (Ps. 37:9; Isa. 40:31; 2 Tim. 4:8; 2 Pet. 3:11-13).
4. “In recent years, we have been receiving the stimulus of divine photons: the Word and the Spirit. However, the Word we receive daily, the immersion in the Word, and the war cry should not only produce good behavior. These tools must transform us into instruments in God’s hands, so that He can work miracles” (Phil. 2:1-4) (Daily Food, book 4, week 3, Wednesday, p. 43).
