DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Sunday | Msg. 20 – God’s Covenant with Noah

1. God made it clear that there are prophets among His people, whom He uses to accomplish His purposes. However, Moses was the Lord’s oracle, His spokesman, and was given the authority to exercise this role. Speaking ill of or slandering the prophet authorized by God to speak in His name is, in fact, speaking against the Lord Himself. Therefore, we must treat seriously any sign of rebellion in our hearts—whether it be dissatisfaction, a search for recognition, or ambition for position in the church (Num 12:10-11).

2. A positive example of someone who recognizes authority was David. Although God rejected Saul, as king, for not obeying His command to completely destroy Amalek, David dared not harm the king because he was the Lord’s anointed. Amalek represents our flesh—the human nature inclined to sin. God desires that it be completely annihilated, leaving nothing alive (1 Sam. 15:1-3, 8-9, 22-26; 24:1 22; 26:1-16).

3. The church is the fortress of Zion, fighting for the kingdom of Christ! We are this fortress. We must fight bravely so that the Lord may form an army of youths, captains, and senior stewards. Today we have received reinforcements: David’s mighty men. We, in David’s stronghold, will fight for the kingdom, so that Christ may once again rule the Earth—starting with us. Enough of the rule of conscience and men! Christ must rule, first, in the church—in the stronghold (2 Sam 5:6-10).

4. “Let us be fighters, without ambition for position in the church, who long to be useful to God. The Lord has called us to enjoy Him freely. […] Thus we constitute ourselves of the truth and become increasingly obedient to Christ, serving not by our ability or thoughts, but by the Spirit” (Isaiah 55:1-3, 8-11) (Daily Food, book 1, week 2, Sunday, p. 23).
