DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Monday | Msg. 26 – The Birth of Ishmael and the Appearing of God Almighty

1. God made two covenants with Abraham. The first concerned his descendants, briefly reaffirming what He had already promised. The second matter concerned the inheritance of the whole Earth. Therefore, when mentioning descendants, God refers to the descendant who would come from Abraham—Christ (Genesis 12:1-3; 17:4-5).

2. For God, it was important that Abraham had children, but His greater focus was on heavenly offspring. This purpose would only be fully realized with the coming of Christ and the offspring that would then be generated—the church. Abraham believed in God’s promise, and through this faith, the promise was fulfilled (Gal 3:16; Gen 15:5-6).

3. A covenant is stronger than a promise. God made a covenant with Abraham concerning the land. The promise was made to his descendant—Christ. It wasn’t just about the land of Canaan; God promised to give the whole Earth. In the church, we are co-heirs with Christ. We will inherit the whole Earth, and this is not limited to a promise: God gives us an even stronger covenant (Genesis 15:5-9).

4. “Every human being is special because he or she is unique and singular. God did not create man in series, like in a robot factory, but each one has his or her own personality. […] Although each one is unique, God wants to head us up to establish His rule over all things. Today the Lord counts on us and has revealed many things to us” (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:14) (Daily Food, book 2, week 4, Monday, p. 56).
