DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Friday | Msg. 30 – The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the Story of Lot

1. Abraham walked in the presence of God and trusted in what the Lord told him. Lot, on the other hand, was commanded to flee to the mountains, but because he did not walk with God, he did not trust the angels nor believe that the Lord would do what was best for him. Because he did not walk with God, he disobeyed and gave importance to his own opinion (Romans 4:3; Genesis 19:17-20).

2. Lot’s wife had the opportunity to be saved from destruction, but she still loved what that place offered her. Her attachment to comfort and social standing prevented her from obeying. By valuing so much what she would miss in that life without God, she ended up with a tragic end. May we not long for what life without God provided us (Genesis 19:17, 24-26).

3. The gospel is what gives flavor to life. The Lord Jesus said that we are the salt of the Earth; by sharing the Word, we give meaning to the lives of many people. However, salt cannot lose its flavor: if that happens, it becomes useless. A Christian cannot lose their flavor. Lot’s wife became like salt without value (Matthew 5:13; Genesis 19:26).

4. “We must receive the word we have heard without the slightest sign of doubt, just as the brothers and sisters of the church in Thessalonica did. The operation of the word occurs in the life of those who are simple in receiving it and believing in it! But beware of the tempter, for he always appears to interfere in the life of those who decide to act this way” (1 Thessalonians 2:13) (Daily Food, book 3, week 4, Friday, p. 68).
