DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Thursday | Msg. 55 – Jacob and His Family Go Down to Egypt

1. When we work in the flow of the Spirit and the word of God, we serve in rest. In ourselves we do not have the capacity to accomplish God’s work, but the word itself works effectively. When God speaks, and His people believe and practice what He says, the work happens! (Exodus 33:14).

2. When Jacob went down to Egypt with his family, he sent Judah ahead of him to prepare the way and lead him to the place where they would settle. At that moment, Judah represented not only Jacob, but also God’s interest in establishing His kingdom through Abraham’s descendants. How important his stance was! (Genesis 46:28).

3. Judah’s change of attitude led God to transfer to its tribe the responsibility of defending His kingdom, later represented by David and, especially, by Zion, a place that the Lord loved. From this revelation, we understand why God did not choose Joseph to inherit the kingship (Psalm 78:67-68, 70-71).

4. “Jacob became Israel, who learned to live by God’s mercy, following in the footsteps of Abraham’s faith, governed by the tree of life. That is why I have insisted that we do nothing mechanically, nothing based on our human wisdom. We need to follow the living God based on His living word, in an organic way.” (Daily Food, book 9, Week 2, Thursday, page 33).
