1. Many Christians are not concerned with the kingdom of God or with Christ being the head over all things. However, God loves Mount Zion, that is, the portion of His people who strive for the interests of His kingdom. We need to be part of this group, for it was in Zion that the Lord established His heavenly and spiritual sanctuary, enduring as the heavens and firm as the Earth (Psalm 78:68-69).
2. The kingdom of God is different from the kingdoms of the world. In human kingdoms, rulers do their own will, but in the kingdom of God, the king’s role is to shepherd and care for the people. That is why the Lord chose David, a shepherd, to shepherd the people of Israel. Just as he cared for the sheep, David cared for God’s people (Psalm 78:70-71).
3. If we want to exercise royalty in the church, we need to understand that the authority the Lord grants us is to shepherd and care for people. When we go out into the streets to preach the gospel of the kingdom, the true goal should be to care for lives (Psalm 78:72).
4. “Like Jacob, we too long for God’s blessing. We want the promises God gave to Abraham. That is why we choose the birthright” (Genesis 25:29-30) (Daily Food, book 9, Week 2, Friday, p. 35).
