1. Although Joseph was governor of Egypt, Jacob’s sons had to formally present themselves and receive Pharaoh’s express permission to live in the best portion of the land of Egypt (Genesis 47:1).
2. While we live in the world, we are subject to the authorities and formalities imposed by our rulers. However, it is not the function of the church to involve itself in the earthly affairs of human government. The church only represents the kingdom of heaven on Earth (Romans 13:1).
3. While we are on Earth, our fight is for God’s interests. We fight to establish the kingdom of heaven on Earth (Ephesians 6:12; Matthew 6:33).
