1. Today we return to a life of joy by persevering in the apostles’ teaching. Progress in the church now depends on our participation. We should not live the church life as if we were sitting on the sidelines watching. Like the Lord Jesus, let us commit ourselves to the Lord’s work. God is counting on you (Acts 2:42; John 5:17).
2. For everything here on Earth, God relies on human cooperation. The Lord did not send rain in the Garden of Eden until there was a man to work the soil. If we are willing to work for God, then He will send rain. Just as the Father and the Son worked, so too must we work to cooperate with the Lord (Gen. 2:5; John 5:17).
3. We are co-workers with God! In our church life, let us not be mere spectators, lest we end up criticizing others. The Lord is very merciful, and even though there was no man to till the soil, He still sent a mist to water the earth and maintain a minimum standard of living. Let us not be content to remain at a minimum level of experience with God (1 Cor. 3:9; Gen. 2:5-6).
4. “God does not count on our ability to do something. On the contrary, today, God counts on the cooperation of those who are humble and repentant in spirit, who dedicate their reverent love to His word… Like Abraham, who, in the midst of an idolatrous generation, sought the true God” (Isaiah 66:1 2, 51:2) (Daily Food, book 4, week 2, Tuesday, p. 26).
