1. Human beings were created with a body, soul, and spirit. Our bodies were made from the dust of the earth, but because we received the breath of God (Neshamah, in Hebrew), the human spirit was formed within us, and man began to have a soul, which is his personality. Through the human spirit we can contact God (1 Thess. 5:23; Gen. 2:7; Prov. 20:27).
2. Why did God create our soul? He gave us our soul as our personality. We are all different, just as our fingerprints are different; no two are alike. God made us unique and wants to govern over each of us; as God govern us, He can use us according to His will (Gen. 2:7; Eph. 1:10, 22).
3. To know a person, you need to go to the spirit, but to know the depths of God, we need to know the Spirit of God. We need revelation from Him. Thank the Lord, week after week, we have received revelation in the Word, which allows us to know our God more deeply (1 Corinthians 2:10-11).
4. “Because of the serpent’s deception, man rebelled and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In light of the Epistle to the Galatians, this disobedience is characterized by the lust of the flesh, as we read: But I say, walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Gal. 5:16- 17) (Daily Food, book 4, week 2, Wednesday, p. 27).
