1. We need to check what’s in our conscience, what’s in our thoughts. If what’s in my thoughts coincides with what God wants to speak to me through my conscience, I have peace. Then I must act. But if what I think is different from what God says, my conscience accuses me and I have no peace. Then I must not do it (John 8:9; Rom 9:1).
2. The human heart is very important to God! It is a battlefield, for it is where the Lord can sow the word of the kingdom, which, in turn, Satan wants to destroy. People need to receive and understand the seeds of the word of the kingdom so that they can sprout, grow, and bear fruit. Let us sow by preaching the gospel of the kingdom! (Matthew 13:16-19).
3. Disobedience to God in the Garden of Eden caused the human spirit to lose its ability to contact God, because man offended God’s glory, righteousness, and holiness. The soul, which depended on the spirit, became like a boat adrift, and so all people are weary, distressed, and burdened. Let us bring the gospel to them (Gen. 3:6-9, 23-24; Matt. 9:36; John 3:7).
4. “The Lord gave His life for us; this life we receive through His death and resurrection has the nature of God, which is love. In God’s love is contained this faculty of self-giving. We give ourselves to our brothers and sisters, we give our lives for them. This is impossible for the natural man…” (1 John 3:16) (Daily Food, book 4, week 2, Saturday, page 33).
