1. The word Eden means pleasure. Therefore, God desires that created man be happy whenever he walks in the presence of the Lord and serves Him (Gen. 2:8-9; Psa. 100:2; Phil. 4:4; 1 Thess. 5:16).
2. God is joyful. God the Father lived with His Son in a realm of mutual joy. Therefore, He created man to experience the same atmosphere of pleasure. God wants to see you joyful! (Prov. 8:30-31).
3. God desires to satisfy all parts of man—body, soul, and spirit. That’s why the Lord placed the tree of life in the middle of the garden. He wants to be the source of our joy! (Genesis 2:9).
4. “God needs a laser beam from heaven. To accomplish His work powerfully, He needs the cooperation of the church… Therefore, more than forming a group of well-behaved Christians, God desires to use us for a specific purpose: to bring His kingdom to Earth” (Phil. 2:1-4; Matt. 6:9-10) (Daily Food, book 4, week 3, Tuesday, p. 41).
