1. Jesus introduced Himself to the Samaritan woman as the water that quenches thirst. Humanity needs water. Let’s bring this river to people. You are fortunate, you are blessed, you know the meaning of your life, but billions of people out there don’t. Let’s bring this water, because the water they are drinking in the world doesn’t quench their thirst (John 4:9-14).
2. We receive the Spirit within us when we believe into God. This Spirit causes rivers of living water to flow from within us. There is a river whose channels make glad the city of God, and you are one of those channels. “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37-38).
3. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided into four branches. Why four? Because four represents the four sides, the four directions. We have four cardinal points to orient ourselves, four directions. The number four indicates that this river must reach the whole Earth. Wherever man dwells, this water must flow (Gen. 2:10; Matt. 24:14).
4. “From the moment the Jews rejected the life-giving words of God’s prophets, they systematized for themselves a religion based on the observance of rites and rules of conduct, organized by a leadership that enjoyed privilege and power. For this reason, they always rejected the words of God’s prophets” (John 11:47-48) (Daily Food, book 3, week 4, Saturday, p. 67).
