1. At the Lord’s table, we celebrate our union with Christ in His death and resurrection. We also celebrate our liberation from the bondage of sin to a new life. The secret of Christian life and service is identification with the death and resurrection of Christ. (Romans 6:4-6).
2. To have peace, we need to have the problems related to sin resolved. Christ became our sin offering. And, once this issue is resolved, we have peace with God, we are reconciled to Him and we have access to Him again; thus, we can consecrate ourselves as a burnt offering, consecrating to Him all that we are and have (Romans 5:1, 8; 12:1).
3. Sometimes we lack the patience to wait for God’s timing and hastily use our own abilities. After Abraham fathered Ishmael, God did not appear to him for thirteen years. God did not rebuke him, but His silence spoke volumes (Genesis 16:16; 17:1).
4. “God would only send rain when there was someone to care for the land. Similarly, today, God will only send rain when we are willing to work, believing in the word we have received. With willingness, the Lord sends blessings that cause life to spring forth in the garden He has entrusted to our care” (Genesis 2:5) (Daily Bread, book 3, week 1, Tuesday, p. 10).
