DAILY IMMERSION IN THE PROPHETIC WORD Tuesday | Msg. 37 – Jacob: The Need for Transformation

1. God’s people need living water. We are like the deer that pants for flowing water; our life depends on it. If we do not have the new word that the Lord speaks to us each day, we will lose our way, the Lord’s will shall not prosper among us, and, in the end, we will die. Let us have the attitude of earnestly desiring the word of the Lord (Psalm 42:1-2; 1 Peter 2:2).

2. The Lord created woman to assist man in serving God. Therefore, it makes no sense for someone who loves the Lord and desires to serve Him to seek to marry someone who might distract them from this purpose. On the contrary, a spouse should be someone who helps us keep our hearts dedicated to loving the Lord and fulfilling His will (Genesis 2:18; 27:46; 28:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14-15).

3. Jacob loved his birthright and God’s blessing, and he valued the promises the Lord had made to Abraham concerning the land and descendants. He valued what was important to God. Scripture reveals that God loved him, but hated Esau because Esau despised what God valued. Let us love what God loves (Genesis 25:31, 34; Romans 9:13; Hebrews 12:16-17).

4. “The human spirit is the organ designed to enable man to contact God and receive Him into Himself. God is received through the word, coming to dominate our soul, governing our mind, emotions, and will. Thus, through God Himself, man would subdue and dominate the Earth, and the Lord would establish His kingdom through him” (John 4:24; Romans 10:17; Ephesians 1:9-10, 22) (Daily Food, book 6, week 1, Tuesday, p. 7).
