- After His ascension, the Lord Jesus would no longer appear physically to His disciples. Peter understood that His presence would be in the word, which would come through him and the other apostles. Peter boldly began to proclaim the gospel, opening the door of the church to Jews and Gentiles (Ac 2:38-41; 10:44-48).
- The church is left to live in the world because we need to fulfill God’s will while we live on earth. Because we are not of the world, we have a different life from other men. Our life is to seek the word and to remain in the fellowship of life. For this reason, we may be discriminated against. However, let us not be discriminated against because of religion, but because we live full of hope (John 15:18-19).
- Through the work of Christ on the cross we receive forgiveness of our sins and redemption. But His ultimate goal is to connect and lead man to God. We come to live by the life and nature of God, through the word that is supplied to us (1Pe 3:18).
- God’s desire has always been to reign by His life. With the fall, man opened the door for the devil to enter the world with sin and death and thus subject man to a lifeless government. God, however, did not give up on His eternal purpose to restore His government of life through the Word (Rom. 5:12) (Daily Food, Book 1, Monday, p. 5).
