- To live the spiritual reality of Christ’s resurrection, we need to set our minds on and seek the things that are above. When we set our minds on the Spirit, we unite ourselves with Christ, and thus the sufferings of Christ will help us to endure our sufferings. Those who are armed for suffering are prepared even if they do not come (Colossians 3:1-4).
- Sufferings make us return to the Lord to be enlightened and seek God’s will. But prosperity and comfort stir up the passions of the flesh. Therefore, sufferings encourage us, in the time we have left in the flesh, to live not according to human passions, but according to the will of God (1 Peter 4:1-2).
- Judgment begins with God’s house. Therefore, we are being judged today! We are warned whenever we are out of line, so that we will be approved when Jesus returns. We need to be aware that the Lord is on the throne and live under His headship, depending on God at all times (1 Peter 4:17; Rev. 4:1-2).
- The only perfect government is that which has God as its origin and Christ as its head. In this government, life circulates through the Body which is administered by the word (Ephesians 4:15). (Daily Food, Book 1, Thursday, p. 13).
